lyrics
Whoa, gatekeeper
I’ve seen the levees in your eyes
There is an ocean on the rise
I know that it’s hard times to be tender
I know you got it bad
I know that this world is needing menders
Not ascetics slaying dragons in their heads
You got a cantilever frown
You know the walls of Babylon came down
I know that it’s hard times to be tender
I know you’re feeling mad
I know that at best it’s still a bender
And you’re swimming in the water you won’t tread
I’ve seen the way you hold your chin
You know that doesn’t keep you in the end

This is a very strong sophomore record - No sophomore slump here. This shows Gudasz' growth as a songwriter. She's branching out in different directions musically with some very cool production work. Some of the songs are even better than those from Oleander, her debut LP. While some of those sounds/textures are still present here, this record has some more challenging (and rewarding) results. For fans of Leonard Cohen, Sharon Van Etten, Aimee Mann and Joni Mitchell. travm0

Working with her friend and co-producer Nick Sanborn (of Sylvan Esso), Wasner crafts a unique, atmospheric sound, combining electro-pop synths, guitars, and wind instruments, while tastefully altering and layering her own resonant vocals. jmand300
